TRINITY: GOD THE FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT

Genesis 1:1–2, 4a; 2 Corinthians 13:11–13; Matthew 28:16–20

Beloved in Christ, today we celebrate Trinity Sunday — a sacred reminder of the divine mystery of one God revealed in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Christianity is not the worship of three gods, but the worship of one living God who eternally exists in perfect unity, fellowship, love, and mission. From creation to salvation and to the daily life of the Church, the Trinity is not merely a theological doctrine to be studied; it is the living reality of God actively working among His people.

However, the greatest question is not whether we know about God, but whether:

We are living in fellowship with the Father,

Surrendered to the Son,

And led daily by the Holy Spirit.

Knowledge without relationship produces religion, but relationship with God produces transformation.

1. GOD THE FATHER — OUR CREATOR AND SOURCE OF LIFE

Genesis 1:1–2

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…” God the Father is the eternal Creator and source of all life. Nothing exists outside His divine will and authority. Our life is not a mistake, and our existence is not an accidental — we were created with purpose and divine intention.

One of the greatest tragedies of our generation is that many people enjoy God’s creation while ignoring God Himself. Humanity now places more trust in money, education, politics, technology, and human connections than in the Creator who sustains all things.

Powerful Truths:

If God is our Creator, then our life has meaning.

If God is our Source, then nothing is impossible for Him.

If God is our Father, then we are never abandoned.

Reflection:

Do we honour God in our daily decisions?

Do we acknowledge Him before every step we take?

Or are we living as though we created ourselves?

A life disconnected from the Father will always feel empty, no matter how successful it appears outwardly.

2. GOD THE SON — OUR SAVIOUR AND KING

Matthew 28:18–20

Jesus Christ said, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son and of the Holy Spirit”

This is not merely the voice of a prophet; it is the declaration of the risen King of Kings.

Jesus Christ is not simply a historical religious figure. He is the living Son of God and the only Saviour of mankind. Through His death, He paid the price for sin. Through His resurrection, He conquered death. Through His authority, He reigns forever. He continuse to intercede for us

Powerful Truths:

No one comes to the Father except through Jesus Christ.

Salvation is not earned by works; it is received by grace.

The cross is not merely a symbol; it is the power of redemption.

Reflection:

Have you truly surrendered your life to Jesus?

Are you following Him or merely attending church?

Is your Christianity visible in your lifestyle?

Jesus did not call us to religion; He called us to discipleship.

True discipleship involves:

Daily repentance,

Obedience to God’s Word,

Forgiveness of others,

And carrying one’s cross faithfully.

A Church without disciples becomes a crowd rather than the body of Christ.

3. GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT — OUR COMFORTER AND POWER

Genesis 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:13

“The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters…”

The Holy Spirit is not merely an influence, emotion, or energy. He is God Himself dwelling among and within believers.

The Holy Spirit:

Convicts the heart of sin,

Comforts the broken-hearted,

Strengthens the weak,

Teaches divine truth,

Empowers believers for service, ministry and witness,

Guides believers into truth

Produces spiritual fruit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control)

Dwells within believers, making them temples of God

And produces holy living.

Without the Holy Spirit, Christianity becomes effort without power and religion without transformation.

Powerful Truth:

You cannot live a victorious Christian life by human strength alone. You need divine empowerment through the Holy Spirit.

Reflection:

Is our lives sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit?

Are we yielding to Him or resisting Him?

Are we producing the fruit of the Spirit?

A Spirit-filled believer is not merely emotional but transformed, disciplined, fruitful, and spiritually mature.

4. THE UNITY OF THE TRINITY — A MODEL FOR THE CHURCH

2 Corinthians 13:11–13

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are distinct Persons, yet perfectly united in love, purpose, and mission.

Likewise, the Church is called to reflect this divine unity.

A divided Church misrepresents a united God.

Powerful Truths:

Unity does not mean agreement on everything; it means love despite differences.

Division weakens the Church, but unity releases spiritual power.

God cannot fully bless a body that is constantly tearing itself apart.

Reflection:

Are you a builder of unity or an instrument of division?

Do you carry bitterness or forgiveness in your heart?

Do your words heal or wound the Church?

Where unity exists, God commands His blessing.

CONCLUSION

Beloved, the Trinity is not merely a doctrine to explain; it is a divine reality to experience.

The Father created me/you/we  with purpose.

The Son redeemed you/me/ us through love and sacrifice.

The Holy Spirit empowers us/ you / me for victorious living and service.

Today, God is calling us:

From religion to relationship,

From sin to salvation,

From weakness to spiritual power,

And from division to unity.

Let each of us examine ourselves:

Are you/we walking with the Father?

Are you/we faithfully following the Son?

Are you/we being led by the Holy Spirit?

For the greatest tragedy is not ignorance of God, but knowing Him and still rejecting Him.

May “the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit” be with us all. Amen.
